In this request I will make reference to neuromuscular conditions, muscular dystrophy, and duchenne muscular dystrophy. 

For the purposes of this request:

– Neuromuscular conditions refer to any such conditions, including all types of Muscular dystrophy;

– Muscular dystrophy refers to all such conditions including Duchenne muscular dystrophy; and

– Duchenne muscular dystrophy refers only to that specific condition

1)Please provide information on thetotal number of unplanned admissions to your Trust for patients with the following conditions broken down by hospital (where appropriate) and by calendar year since 2011 including data for 2017 to date.  If you hold data by financial year then that is acceptable also:

a)Neuromuscular conditions

b)Muscular dystrophies

c)Duchenne muscular dystrophy

2)Please provide a breakdown of the reasons for the unplanned admissions e.g. Accident, breathing problems, etc – this should be broken down by the relevant data sets that you hold, broken down by hospital (where appropriate) and by calendar year since 2011 including data for 2017 to date.  If you hold data by financial year then that is acceptable also.

7)Please provide details of adaptations provided by hospitals in your trust for persons with neuromuscular (and other) conditions who may not be ambulant, or who may be unable to lift items such as cutlery, press buttons etc.  For example, provision of hoists, wash/dry toilets, adapted call buttons; intercom systems; modified cutlery; provision of staff to feed a patient who is unable to do so him or herself due to muscle wasting.

We have access to small items of equipment, e.g. toilet frames, portable ramps, sling hoist, which can be provided following assessment of functional needs.   We can refer onto Social services for provision of larger items of equipment and for assessments for major adaptations.  We can refer to hospital social workers for packages of care.

8)Please provide details of the procedures hospitals in your trust follow if a physiotherapist is required at night for persons who have a neuromuscular condition, especially if physiotherapists are not normally on duty in the night.

We provide physiotherapy on call respiratory service.

For the period 1st Sept 2015 to 31st Aug 2016, 71 Nurses were recruited from EU.

Please accept this email as a formal request for information under the Freedom of Information Act. My interest is in the activity in Accident and Emergency Departments and I have a couple of questions regarding the application of technology in the A&E environment.  I anticipate that there are 3 teams that may need to input into the request: A&E, Informatics/data and IT systems.  If your Trust has multiple A&E sites, I would be grateful if a questionnaire could be completed for each site.

 What was the agency spend within the last 12 months on temporary or interim staffing for agency nurses; and what percentage of that spend was with off framework agencies?

During the Financial Year (April-March) 2016/17 the Trust recorded the following expenditure on Agency Nursing: £9,523,997.25

We used on average for 2016/17 a total WTE (whole time equivalent) of 1,845 agency staff. Total nursing staff for the same year period was an average WTE (whole time equivalent) of 61,646

The Trust does hold the information you have requested in relation the percentage of spend, however we estimate that compliance with your request would exceed the appropriate costs limit under section 12 of the Freedom of information Act 2000. This is currently £450. The appropriate limit would be exceeded if it would require more than 18 hours work. In order to provide this information the finance department would need to manually review records. This would take longer than the 18 hours limit.
