FOI 0191 2019/20: Hospital Parking

Freedom of Information Request: 0191 2019/20

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) completed a merger by acquisition of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) on 1st April 2018.  Due to historical differences in data collection/reporting across UHB and the former Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust some responses have been provided by hospital site.

  1. Please state the current fee for parking at the trust for one hour. (If there is no specific fee for one hour, please state the lowest possible time and cost) UHB £3.10
  2. Please state the fee for parking for one hour in 2018 HGS: £3.10 QE: £3.00
  3. Please tell me whether the hospital provides free parking for any of the following groups a) cancer patients b) disabled patients c) other patients who are frequent visitors to the trust d) the relatives of patients who are frequent visitors Heartlands, Good Hope & Solihull: No free parking QE: a) Yes b) Yes c) Yes d) No
  4. Please tell me if the hospital provides reduced parking for any of the following groups a) cancer patients b) disabled patients c) patients who are frequent visitors d) the relatives of patients who are frequent visitors Heartlands, Good Hope & Solihull: Yes QE: a) Yes b) Yes c) Yes d) No
  5.  If yes to question 4, please provide details. Heartlands, Good Hope & Solihull: We provide a 20 Exit Carnet for the cost of £10 (50p per exit) QE: There is a weekly visitor concession tariff (7 days parking) of £21.40
  6. Please state how much the trust collected in parking charges and fines in a) 2018/19 and b) 2017/18 This information is already available at https://hgs.uhb.nhs.uk/foi-0005-2019-20-car-parking-charges-and-fines/ so we are withholding this information under Section 21 of the Freedom of Information act.
  7. Does the trust hire any private firms to issue parking fines or clamp vehicles? Heartlands, Good Hope & Solihull: Yes for PCNs, No for clamping. QE: The Car Parking and Traffic Management services at QEHB are operated by a private sector company, Consort Healthcare (Birmingham), as part of a wider PFI contract.  The day to day management of Trust car parks at QEHB is undertaken by Q-Park Ltd.Please note In England and Wales, The Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 criminalised certain wheel-clamping activity on private land without lawful authority from 1 October 2012.
