FOI 0255 2019/20: SELR Exemption and MTI Route

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) completed a merger by acquisition of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) on 1st April 2018.  Due to historical differences in data collection/reporting across UHB and the former Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust this response has been provided by hospital site.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham

  1. Whether or not the Trust has been providing SELR (Structured English Language Reference) to Doctors with job offers for the Doctors to obtain GMC registration so that they can work in the Trust. Yes
  2. If Yes to Question 1, please provide a breakdown by the number of Doctors per month given a SELR by the Trust for the past 36 months across every grade (Consultant, Middle Grade, and Junior) and specialty (e.g. Emergency Medicine, Paediatrics, Radiology, etc.). 13 – JSD Standard
