University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) completed a merger by acquisition of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) on 1st April 2018.  Due to historical differences in data collection/reporting across UHB and the former Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust this response has been provided by hospital site.

 

  1. Please could you send us your current policies for treatment (surgical and/or injection) of base of thumb arthritis including any funding criteria.

We do not have policies for the treatment of these conditions. Funding guidelines can be obtained through the CCG.

  1. Please could you send us any older policies including funding criteria for treatment of base of thumb arthritis from 1998 to present day.

            Not Applicable

  1. If not included in the policy what criteria is used to categorise severity of base of thumb arthritis into mild moderate or severe.

Decisions are made by the treating surgeon in conjunction with the patient in line with best clinical practice.
