FOI 0820: Smartcards

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) completed a merger by acquisition of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) on 1st April 2018.  Due to historical differences in data collection/reporting across UHB and the former Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust this response has been provided by hospital site.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham

1) The headcount of staff employed in the Trust, as at the end of January 2019. Please split this between substantive and bank, using primary assignment.

9954 substantive, 1545 bank.

2) How many smartcard printers are actively used within the Trust?

Two.

3) In WTE terms, how much resource is dedicated to the following activities.

  • printing of smartcards

2 WTE, with occasional extra cover when required.

  • administration of smartcard roles within either ESR or Care Identity Services 

There is no specific WTE related to this activity.

  • reporting agency data to NHSI on a weekly basis

 

30-60 minutes per week.

  • production of workforce data reports

1 WTE (estimated across HR, informatics, finance, and workforce)

  • maintenance of the ESR supervisor hierarchy
