FOI 5633 Nurses and mental-health related illnesses

This request concerns times taken off by nurses at your Trust due to mental health-related illnesses (such as stress, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc.).
By nurses I am referring to Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting Staff.

1. Please state the total number of calendar days (FTE) taken off by nurses due to mental health-related illnesses, in each of the following financial years:
i) 2012/13 = 5703 days
ii) 2013/14 = 9602 days
iii) 2014/15 = 10823 days
iv) 2015/16 = 11167 days
v) 2016/17 = 11207 days
vi) 2017/18 to 30/09/17 = 5438 days
Please note that the increase in sick leave taken due to mental health issues is partly due to improvements in recording this information. Previously a high number of ‘Reasons Unknown’ was recorded.
