Fetal Medicine services

We have a well-established fetal medicine department, supported by a Level 3 neonatal unit, within UHB. There are many different reasons women are referred into fetal medicine and this can occur at any stage of pregnancy. It is usually an anxious time for women and their families. The department is staffed by an experienced team of consultants and midwives which allows all women referred into fetal medicine to quickly receive evidence based medical care if problems arise with their pregnancy.

Families receive ongoing support from the midwifery team and have direct access following their consultation and between appointments.

The team liaise closely with many other internal agencies including neonatologists, clinical genetics, Birmingham Women’s Hospital tertiary centre and Birmingham Children’s Hospital. We want to make the journey and outcomes for women who require care within the department that of the highest possible standard.
