Maxillofacial & Oral Surgery

Oral and maxillofacial surgery is the surgical speciality concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the mouth, jaws, face and neck.Consultant specialists working in this area are called  Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons frequently work alongside other specialists including orthodontists, oncologists, neurosurgeons, plastic surgeons, and ENT (ear, nose and throat) surgeons.

Services available

This area can include the diagnosis and management of facial injuries, head and neck cancers, skin cancer, cleft lip and palate, salivary gland diseases, facial disproportion, facial pain, temperomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, impacted teeth, cysts and tumours of the jaws as well as numerous problems affecting the oral mucosa such as mouth ulcers and infections. The Trust holds twice weekly clinics and a weekly day case list at Solihull Hospital. Also there are joint clinics with Orthodontics and a fast track clinic every Friday.
