Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Centre

The Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Centre has services in Orthotics and Physiotherapy as well as the treatment of orthopeadic pre-operative patients and additional multi-disciplinary treatments for in-patients.

Services Available

Physiotherapy diagnostic assessments and follow up treatments are provided for a range of conditions. Referrals are accepted for acute and long term conditions. Referrals can be generated from GPs and consultants or for some conditions (excluding respiratory neurology and paediatrics) patients can self-refer. Physiotherapists encourage improvement in the quality of life of the patient by education, exercise, pain relief and a mutually agreed treatment plan aimed at long term self management of the symptoms. There are some treatments however that we offer that are unique to our department including hydrotherapy, tai chi, aromatherapy, ultra-sound scanning, guided injection therapy, STarTback Education and Pain Management. Our service operates from Monday to Friday on a regular basis with flexibility of appointments from 7.30am to 6.30pm. We have recently introduced Saturday mornings due to requests from our most recent patient scoping exercise and these operate from 8.00am until 1.00pm on a rota basis.

Service Statistics

Our current waiting time is a maximum of three weeks and our patient satisfaction rate and survey information indicates that our patients are highly satisfied by our intervention. We conduct patient surveys on a regular basis and have patient champions who are involved in discussions regarding service developments. We have been successful in raising our profile nationally by achieving several awards and are recognised as being a highly pro-active team who will take the time to listen to our patients and address any issues that arise.
