Poorly children at Heartlands Hospital received an egg-stra special treat as over 200 Easter eggs were delivered to the Children’s Unit by a local ASDA store.
Denise Danks, community life champion for ASDA Chelmsley Wood, visited young patients with chocolate eggs to help bring a little Easter magic to the Unit.
Denise said: “All the eggs donated to the Children’s Unit were from staff and customers at ASDA Chelmsley Wood. It is all about giving something back to the community and I was very grateful to be given the opportunity to meet patients at Heartlands and bring a smile to their faces.
“All three of my children have been treated on the Children’s Unit at Heartlands so it was a poignant moment for me going back to the hospital.”
Christine Morrell, play specialist at Heartlands Hospital, said: “On behalf of all the staff, parents and children, I would like to thank Denise and all the staff and customers at ASDA for generously donating so many Easter eggs.
“It was lovely to see the children on the ward so happy and the chocolate definitely put a smile on their faces. The children who were in hospital over Easter had a lovely time due to the thoughtfulness and generosity of ASDA’s staff and customers.”
