The Birmingham Regional Severe Asthma Service (BRSAS) based at Heartlands Hospital hosted a clinical immersion workshop on severe asthma. The aim of the workshop was to provide trainees with clinical knowledge and experience in managing severe asthma and an understanding of the impact asthma has on an individual’s life. Twenty senior delegates from the global AstraZeneca team representing North America, Europe and Mid/Far East attended the workshop. Interesting discussions took place on current unmet needs in severe asthma management, challenges in delivering care to these patients and future developments and research. The BRSAS team received excellent feedback from the delegates who found the workshop informative and stimulating. Following on from this successful outcome, a further programme will be conducted at Heartlands to train international physicians with an interest in asthma.
