The day case units at our three hospital sites are purpose built units with a ward, recovery room and operating theatres, with appointments Monday to Friday throughout the day.

The Day Case Unit teams undertake operations in nearly all specialities meaning patients can leave the same day rather than having to stay in hospital.

As technology and medical advances continue to take place, we are able to do more and more operations in this way.

Most patients are usually fit to return home two to three hours after surgery, depending on the surgery and how they feel.

Patients who have had a minor procedure under local anaesthetic can return home fairly quickly after their operation. However, it is also advisable to have someone at home with you for 24 hours.
