FOI 0070 2019/20: Charging Regulations

Freedom of Information Request: 0070 2019/20

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) completed a merger by acquisition of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) on 1st April 2018.  Due to historical differences in data collection/reporting across UHB and the former Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust this response has been provided by hospital site.

  1. Total amount charged up front, in advance of treatment, under the Hospital Charging Regulations 2017 for each quarter of each financial year.

This includes all monies received upfront for elective treatment provided for chargeable overseas patients since October 2017 to date. Estimate invoices were recorded differently from September 2018 onwards so we are unable to provide the total amount charged advance of treatment between the period October 2017 – September 2018. The Trust also does not distinguish between “deposit” payments and “upfront” payments meaning all amounts are included here.

 

  1. Total amount credited against up front charges under the Hospital Charging Regulations 2017 for each quarter of each financial year.

    We are unable to answer this question as due to our current reporting system we can only report on the net income position. Due to this, we would be unable to report the total amount credited against invoices raised for upfront charging.
  2. Total amount charged as deposit on account in advance of treatment under the Hospital Charging Regulations 2017 for each quarter of each financial year.
