FOI 0324 – Support of the Trust’s and CCG’s Integration Engine

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) completed a merger by acquisition of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) on 1st April 2018.   UHB includes Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Solihull Hospital and Community Services, Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham Chest Clinic.

Due to historical differences in data collection/reporting across UHB and the former Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust some responses have been provided by hospital site.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital

We require information related to the Support of the Trust’s or CCG’s Integration Engine (TIE) – The IT team and/or Procurement should be able to assist with answers.

1. Can you confirm that your Trust uses the Rhapsody Integration Engine for integration and sharing of information between clinical systems EG: PAS ADT / Demographic messages to Radiology System / LIMS within the Hospital? Please state the specific IE used and the version number.

Rhapsody version 6.3.0

2. Are you planning an upgrade or replacement of the IE in the next 12 months?

Upgrade, not replacement.

3. Please provide an email address for the main IT point of contact that is in charge of overseeing and managing the Integration and Interfacing team(s)?

4. How many licenses do you hold for your Integration Engine, and of what type?

We have the ability to connect as many comm points as we like.

5. Do you pay for support and maintenance of your integration engine as separate items?

We have a support and maintenance contract for Rhapsody, however we also have on-site support by the IT managing the engine provided on a 24/7 basis.

6. Do you currently have an annual 24/7-365 Rhapsody environment and bespoke interface (monitoring) support contract with a third party supplier?

We have a support and maintenance contract for Rhapsody, however we also have on-site support by the IT managing the engine provided on a 24/7 basis.

7. (If yes to 6), How much do you currently pay for your annual 24/7 Rhapsody environment and bespoke interface support?

£11,500 per annum + VAT

8. (If yes to 6), When will the 24/7 support contract be renewed next?

January 2019

9. (If No to 6), Is your Rhapsody environment and bespoke interface support provided in-house?

Yes

9.2. Does this cover OOH support?

We have a support and maintenance contract for Rhapsody, however we also have on-site support by the IT managing the engine provided on a 24/7 basis.

10. What is the procurement route for the above services should they be external to the Trust e.g. via tender? (Procurement)

We would undertake the normal tender process, but we have no plans to do so in next 5 years.

 

Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospital

If we were to tender it would go via the normal tender process however, we have no plans to do so because we have merged with University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) and will be using their IE.
