FOI 0387 – Data Security Spending and Training

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) completed a merger by acquisition of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) on 1st April 2018.   UHB includes Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Solihull Hospital and Community Services, Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham Chest Clinic.

Due to historical differences in data collection/reporting across UHB and the former Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust some responses have been provided by hospital site.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital

Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like to ask for information on data security spending & training pertaining to University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
Please could you complete the table below to provide the following information:

1. The total number of full-time and part-time employees employed by your trust (as of 1st August 2018 or latest figures available)

Full-time staff: 6,895
Part-time staff: 3,504

2. The total number of full-time and part-time employees employed by your trust with professional data security / cybersecurity qualifications (as of 1st August 2018 or latest figures available)

3. The total number of full-time and part-time employees employed by your trust who have completed security training over the last 12 months (prior to 1st August 2018 or latest figures available) 

The only type of security training that QEHB staff members have completed in the last 12 months was Information Security training covered within mandatory Information Governance training.

4. How much money (in pounds sterling) has been spent on data security training during the last 12 months (prior to 1st August 2018 or latest figures available) this may include GDPR-related training

Free training has been provided for GDPR. No money has been spent on formal data security training within ICT.

 

Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospital

Full-time staff: 6,132
Part-time staff: 4,714

2. The total number of full-time and part-time employees employed by your trust with professional data security / cybersecurity qualifications (as of 1st August 2018 or latest figures available)

None

3. The total number of full-time and part-time employees employed by your trust who have completed security training over the last 12 months (prior to 1st August 2018 or latest figures available)

In-house training was provided for over 100 key staff. Information security is also covered within mandatory Information Governance training.

4. How much money (in pounds sterling) has been spent on data security training during the last 12 months (prior to 1st August 2018 or latest figures available) this may include GDPR-related training.

Free training has been provided for GDPR. No money has been spent on formal data security training within ICT.
