University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) completed a merger by acquisition of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) on 1st April 2018.   UHB includes Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Solihull Hospital and Community Services, Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham Chest Clinic.

Due to historical differences in data collection/reporting across UHB and the former Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust some responses have been provided by hospital site.

Please provide the answers to the following FOI request.

1. Please could you provide me a breakdown of the locum agency doctor spend for the last financial year? Please break this down in to specialty and grades

 

2. Please could you provide me a breakdown of the permanent doctor vacancies across the trust?

The Trust’s International Fellowship Programme is a training programme linked to the Medical Training Initiative (MTI), a national scheme that allows trainee doctors to enter the UK from countries outside the European Union to learn from experienced consultants within the UK national health system so that they can benefit from training and development in NHS services before returning to their home countries.

The Trust does not campaign; its International Fellowship Programme is sought out by overseas institutions who want to train their doctors with us for short periods of time.
