FOI 0445 – Register of Interest and Declarations

Freedom of Information Request: FOI 0445

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) completed a merger by acquisition of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) on 1st April 2018.   UHB includes Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Solihull Hospital and Community Services, Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham Chest Clinic.

For the purposes of this request we have answered on behalf of the whole Trust.

Please could you provide me with a copy of the register of interests and declarations made by all senior clinical staff in line with the NHS England statutory guidance on conflicts of interest covering the years 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018.

This guidance states:

6.4. All staff should declare interests and, as a minimum, organisations should publish the interests of decision making staff at least annually in a prominent place on their website. Organisations without websites should maintain registers locally, available for inspection on request.

6.5. The format of published registers should be accessible and contain meaningful information. Adopting the templates and advice on content in this guidance will assist organisations in this task.

The Trust will be publishing the register in the coming months.  This register will commence on the date the guidance was brought into force (1 June 2017).   We are therefore withholding this as information for future publication under section 22 of the Freedom of Information Act.
