Freedom of Information Request: 0604 2019/20

 

  1. The number of registered medical practitioners who conscientiously objected and opted out of withdrawing life-sustaining treatment between 1 January 2015 and 31 December 2019. 

This information is not held centrally and would require us to review individual patient records. This is not the purpose for which this information was provided and would constitute a breach of the ‘purpose limitation’ Data Protection principle.

We are therefore exempting this information under Section 40 (2) of the Freedom of Information Act (2000) 

Section 40 (2) is an absolute exemption meaning there is no requirement to consider the public interest when disclosing this information.
