University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) completed a merger by acquisition of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) on 1st April 2018.  Due to historical differences in data collection/reporting across UHB and the former Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust this response has been provided by hospital site. 

Is there a standard tariff/ cost of bed for inpatient stay?

The average daily cost of an inpatient bed is £215 per day at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, and £310 at Heartlands, Good Hope, and Solihull Hospitals.

 Does this differ within specialities, if so what is the cost of inpatient stay per day for a urology patient at QEHB?

Yes, the cost differs between specialities. The daily cost of a bed on a urology ward at Queen Elizabeth Hospital is £182.
