University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) completed a merger by acquisition of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) on 1st April 2018.  Due to historical differences in data collection/reporting across UHB and the former Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust this response has been provided by hospital site

I am interested to know how the Trust transports patients and staff:

How much does the Trust spend on taxis per year?

2018: £257,000.

Which company handles the taxi contract and when does the contract expire?

Birmingham Ambulance Mobility Transport provides taxi provisions at present. There is no current contract in place.

Does the Trust use a third party company to transport patients?

No – In May 2017 responsibility for the Non-Emergency Patient Transport (NEPT) service was transferred to the CCGs.

If so how much does the Trust spend on patient transport?

Not applicable.

Which company handles the patient transport contract and when does the contract expire?

Not applicable.

How much does the Trust spend on taxis per year?

£190,000 per year.

Which company handles the taxi contract and when does the contract expire?

Heartlands Hospital – KMR Travel Ltd. Contract expiry 28th February 2021

Good Hope Hospital – KMR Travel Ltd. Contract expiry 28th February 2021

Solihull Hospital – A2B Radio Cars Ltd. Contract expiry 28th February 2021

Does the Trust use a third party company to transport patients?

No, patient transport is contracted directly by the CCG to West Midlands Ambulance Service.

If so how much does the Trust spend on patient transport?

Not applicable.

Not applicable.
