1.How many beds do you have in your AMU*?

Heartlands AMU Assessment – 26 in total

Good Hope AMU Assessment – 14 clinical spaces, plus 2 trolleys which are used for triage

Solihull AMU Assessment – 13 assessment cubicles, 2 resuscitation beds

2. In the financial year 2013/14 how many patients for each month were admitted to your AMU?

3. What is the time limit you place on patients being in AMU before transfer to a bed on the appropriate ward?

Unlike A&E departments (e.g. 4 Hour target) there is no time limit on patients being in AMU assessment before transfer to a base ward. Each sites operates its own policies and procedures for time guidance, and are generally more flexible given the situation and flow with bed availability throughout the hospital in question.

N/A – see above. There is no time limit.

5. In each month of the financial year 2013/14 what was the average length of stay in your AMU?

6. In each month of the financial year 2013/14 what was the longest patient stay in AMU?

We do not hold this information in an easily retrievable form.  Providing the data you request would involve an examination of all patient records who had been through AMU.  This search would exceed the 18 hour staff time limit under section 12 of the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulation 2004 SI 2004 No 3244.
