FOI 3211 Patient leaflets

  1. How many patient information leaflets do you produce? approximately 240,000 leaflets per year.  These are held centrally on our PAID (Patient Assistance and Information Database) system.

 

  1. How many new leaflets are produced each year and how many are reviewed? – All leaflets are reviewed 3 yearly unless there are changes in information

 

  1. How is the content derived for each leaflet? The content is derived by the Clinicians for the individual Department

 

  1. How much does it cost to produce the leaflets? Each department pays for own printing which is the only real cost.

 

  1. How many staff are involved in the production of the leaflets? The Clinician ,the Clinical Director who signs off the leaflet ,the Librarians who audit and check references ,the 2 paid database staff and the Patient Information Manager.

 

  1. Who is in charge of  the production of the leaflets? Yvonne Mason as Patient Information Manager is responsible for the Database and the Information Standard awarded to the PAID (Patient Assistance and Information database) system

 

  1. Who is responsible for the accuracy of the leaflets? The Clinical Director is responsible for the accuracy of the leaflets and all references are checked by the Librarians

 

  1. Are they freely available on the Hospital Web Site? No.  All leaflets are available to clinicians that have access to I- Care (which is one of our central patient management systems).
