FOI 3248 Car Parking and Fines

1)      Do you use any private parking companies to manage your hospital car parks? If so, who are the companies? Yes, G4S.

 

2)      How much do they charge in fines? The only fine we levy is £25.00.

 

3)      Do these private companies use debt collectors or solicitor letters to pursue the payment of fines? No

 

4)      Has anybody been taken to court – either by the Trust or the private company acting on their behalf – to pursue a fine? No.

 

5)      If so, how much has been spent taking this legal action? N/A

 

6)      Do you provide concessions for people with long-term illnesses? Yes. Please see the extract from our website below on parking regarding our 20 ticket carnet specifically implemented to assist those with long term illnesses. 

Discounted multiple tickets

A range of discounted tickets for multiple visits are available from the hospital parking office. These include:

  • 3 day ticket – £10.00
  • 7 day ticket – £17.00
  • 14 day ticket – £23.00
  • 28 day ticket – £35.00
  • 20 exit carnet – £10.00 (please note this a new approach being trialed at our hospitals for all patients whose illness means that they have to attend hospital regularly. This 20 visit card can be purchased on the signature of the ward. This means users pay just 50 pence per visit, however long they park for. This applies to all wards and all hospitals.)
