The Trust does hold this information, however we estimate that compliance with your request would exceed the appropriate costs limit under section 12 of the Freedom of information Act 2000. This is currently £450 and relates to the cost of identifying and reviewing individual patient records.

 

3.       In each of the last three financial years how many women have received a diagnostic or other test(s) for:

a.       endometriosis – (the information below relates to histopathology which is the main areas which conducts these diagnostic tests)

Fibroid- usually 1, sometimes diagnosis is made clinically or on hysteroscopy but usually one scan and it will pick up if patient has fibroids

5.       What information is offered to women who present with :

a.       pelvic pain

b.      heavy menstrual bleeding

 

For both pelvic pain and menorrhagia- women are given verbal information during consultant about various causes , investigations and treatment options. This often followed by a written letter.

We also have a paper version of information leaflet for pelvic pain in the gynaecology clinic at Heartlands hospital, which is provided to patients. We have specific information leaflet on intranet about Mirena IUS, Fibroid treatment and endometrial ablation, which are used to treat heavy period problems.

 

6.       On average, how much money a year is spent on hospital admissions for women with:
