Can you please tell me how many people in your hospital trust:

  • Were admitted to hospital with an ESBL infection
  • Acquired an ESBL infection while in hospital

We do not hold this information as we do not monitor the numbers of ESBL infections and do not have the information available for either the number of ESBL infections on admission nor the number acquired whilst in hospital.

  • Were admitted to hospital with a CPE infection
  • Acquired a CPE infection while in hospital

We have been collecting information relating to CPE since 2014 so have information available for only two years. There have been no patients admitted to the Trust with a CPE infection but 41 patients were identified as being colonised with CPE. As not all patients are screened for CPE on admission it is not possible to identify which patients were admitted with colonisation and which developed it while in hospital.
