FOI 5544 Winter Plan

Winter Plan 

  1. How many extra beds will the trust need this winter to meet demand? How does this differ to the numbers for the previous winter (2016-17)?

The Trust has identified the potential need to open up to an additional 36 flex beds across all sites over the winter period.

  1. How many extra staff will you take on to meet extra demand on services this winter? How does this compare to last year?

The Trust anticipates requiring up to 47 WTE staff to operate these additional beds.  This is dependent on how many beds are required and how long they remain open for.

  1. How much will your winter plan cost to implement this year? How does this compare to 2016-17?

In the period December 16 to March 17 the Trust incurred costs related to the winter plan of £2.32m. The approved winter plan for 2017-18 stands at £1.783m although a further £0.65m of schemes are currently under consideration and likely to proceed.

Influenza Pandemic Plan

  1. Have you made any changes or updates to your influenza pandemic plan this year? If so, please include a link/attachment to this.

The pandemic flu plan is currently under review by the Trust to go for ratification at the December Emergency Planning Group. There are no significant changes to this years plan. The current plan was ratified in Dec 2016.
