FOI UHB 0165 – Domestic Violence

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) completed a merger by acquisition of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) on 1st April 2018.   UHB includes Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Solihull Hospital and Community Services, Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham Chest Clinic.

Due to historical differences in data collection/reporting across UHB and the former Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust some responses have been provided by hospital site.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital

Does your Trust have a specific policy to support staff who may suffer domestic violence?

QEHB does not have a policy, however we do have a Procedure for supporting staff affected by domestic abuse.  Please see attached Procedure for Domestic Abuse

Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospital

Does your Trust have a specific policy to support staff who may suffer domestic violence?

In answering the question precisely as written, the answer for HGS is no.  The Domestic Abuse Policy is about patients although there is a reference to staff who state they are a victim of domestic abuse but that section is brief and is more in the context of how that would affect their treatment of patients who are also victims of domestic abuse. Please see attached Domestic Abuse Policy HGS
