Hospital calls for creative volunteers

Heartlands HospitalHeartlands Hospital is looking for people who are passionate about art and music to help expand its volunteering programme for patients.

Volunteers help to deliver art and music projects to patients on the wards which can help them to have fun and express themselves and aid their recovery whilst in hospital. Arts and crafts projects include knitting, painting and drawing. Heartlands Hospital welcomes any musicians and budding artists who are happy to spare some time playing for patients and visitors.

Georgina Farrow, music co-ordinator at Heartlands Hospital said: “Volunteering at our hospital is a very rewarding experience. We have seen volunteers grow in confidence when they see the benefit to patients of taking part in these projects. We are looking for caring and passionate people who would like to give something back to the community by participating in the arts and music projects we run for patients.”

If you would like to get involved with arts and music projects at Heartlands Hospital, please contact the arts department at arts.dept.music@heartofengland.nhs.uk or on 0121 424 0113 for more information.
