Consultant gynaecologist and lead for cancer services at Heart of England NHS Foundation, Mr Raj Saha will be hosting a talk about two of the most common cancers among women.
Coinciding with Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month this March, which is the fifth most common cancer among women, Mr Saha will discuss who is at risk of developing the diseases along with the symptoms to look out for and treatments that are currently available. He will also discuss cervical cancer in which around 3,000 ladies a year are diagnosed with in the UK.
Mr Saha said: “When reality TV star, Jade Goody died of cervical cancer at aged 27, this led to an increase in the number of women having screenings. But this surge has now dropped, with recent figures showing that one in four women still do not attend their appointments.
“Ovarian cancer is less well known but can affect anyone. Greater awareness of both types of cancer can save lives, so I would encourage locals to come along to the talk to find out more.”
