A Chelmsley Wood man has had the logo of a Birmingham cancer fund tattooed on his arm to help raise awareness and to show appreciation for the hard working staff who have cared for his mum.

Finlay White, 28, had the artwork for the Ward 19 at Heartlands Hospital logo inked onto his forearm as a thank you for the care his mum received while undergoing treatment for leukaemia. The ward, which specialises in treating all forms of blood cancer and chemotherapy, has its own charitable fund raising money for the benefit of their patients, as part of the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust Charity.

Finlay said: “When my mum was moved to Ward 19 after being in an induced coma, she couldn’t walk, could barely talk and struggled to even press a buzzer. The amazing staff on the ward helped build my mum back up. They even made me feel at home while I slept there.”

Finlay described getting the tattoo as a bit ‘different’ but added: “It’s the least I can do to try and raise as much money as possible for such an amazing place as Ward 19.”

The Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust Charity supports the patients and staff at Solihull, Good Hope and Heartlands Hospitals as well as the Birmingham Chest Clinic.
