The hard work and dedication of nurses at Solihull Hospital and Community Services has been recognised this week with a special celebratory tea party, held on International Nurses Day.

Taking place on Monday 12 May, International Nurses Day marks the contribution that nurses make to so many people’s everyday lives. To celebrate, nursing staff working at the Hospital and in Community Services were invited to a ‘tea party on the ward’, serving a selection of cakes and beverages. Cakes were donated by the local Sainsbury’s and Greggs stores in Solihull.

Nurses that demonstrated exceptional work ethic, low sickness absence and long length of service were also recognised with a number of special prizes, kindly donated by the local Sainsbury’s.

Alison Massey, associate head nurse for Solihull Community Services, said: “The passion and enthusiasm of our staff is really something to shout about and International Nurses Day provides the ideal opportunity to give our nursing team a special treat. We are so very proud of our nursing staff, who provide high-quality, patient-centered care to all patients that come into Solihull Hospital and those that are nursed in the Community. We wanted to recognise their unwavering commitment to a job that is not always easy.

“Staff had a fantastic time at the tea party and we would like to thank the local Sainsbury’s and Greggs stores for their generous cake donations to help us celebrate.”

One of the nurses recognised for her outstanding contribution was Rachel Beere, who has worked as a children’s nurse in the community for the past six years. She said: “The best part of my job is helping to build relationships with families and children, empowering parents to look after them in their own home. It’s really great to be recognised for going that extra mile for my patients.”
