Heartlands Hospital is inviting local musicians from Birmingham to showcase their musical talents in a late-night music programme.
The twilight sessions have been running for over a year and provide local musicians/groups with an opportunity to connect with people in their community. Local gospel choirs, string quartets and recorder trios have been involved with the music sessions and patients as well as staff have been able to enjoy a diverse range of musical styles and genres.
Local acts that have showcased their musical abilities include Romanesca Tre, a recorder trio from Birmingham and the Sugarbeat Quartet, an all-female barbershop vocal harmony group.
Clare Murphy, music co-ordinator at Heartlands Hospital, said: “Music is known to help improve mood and provide a distraction from pain. The twilight music sessions are designed to help boost the atmosphere of the hospital for anyone and everyone.
“The feedback we have received from patients, staff and visitors on previous twilight sessions has been extremely positive and we are keen to invite as many acts as possible to participate in future sessions. All musicians are welcome to apply.”
