Anyone thinking about giving up smoking is being urged to go along to a weekly clinic which has helped hundreds quit over the last seven years.
Solihull Stop Smoking Service, which is part of the NHS Heart of England Foundation Trust, has been helping the local community quit with a Stop Smoking Clinic at the Woodman’s Rest Pub in Shirley and it has proved to be a really effective way to give up.
Over the past two years the clinic has welcomed 133 people through the doors and half of these made the huge achievement of being non-smokers four weeks later.
Sarah Stables, Manager of NHS Solihull Stop Smoking Service, said: “We provide free and non-judgemental advice and support to help you quit. We will be happy to see you at our clinic at the Woodman’s Rest whether this is your first attempt or if you have tried before.
“You will receive regular carbon monoxide monitoring so you can track your progress. You will also get specialist support from a trained advisor who will discuss all the treatment options with you and help you along the way to a new smoke-free you.”
The Stop Smoking Clinic takes place at the Woodman’s Rest Pub, Union Road, Shirley, every Saturday morning between 10am and midday.
Following on from the success of this service another clinic is starting in the north of the borough at the Toby Jug Public House every Tuesday evening.
Jacky Yeomans, Specialist Stop Smoking Advisor said: “The NHS Solihull Stop Smoking Service is pleased to announce the start of a new venue in the north of the borough at the Toby Jug Public House, Chester Road on a Tuesday evening starting on September 2 from 6pm to 7.30pm. No appointment needed, just pop in when you are ready.”
