It’s nearly the end of 2017 and we thought we’d spend the 12 Days of Christmas sharing some stories and successes from the last year from across the Trust.
We’d like to wish you all a Happy New Year.
On the seventh day…
Heartlands diabetes team welcomed a flying visit by an inspirational all-diabetes pro-cycling team during their 700km, five day cycle through seven cities to raise awareness of the condition.
Members of the renowned Team Novo Nordisk cycling team, whose members all have diabetes, were joined by willing employees from their sponsors, the global healthcare company Novo Nordisk, to take on the ‘Pedal for 7’ challenge during Diabetes Week in June to raise awareness of diabetes and the importance of maintaining healthy blood sugar levels.
During the challenge the peloton stopped off at some of the UK’s leading specialist diabetes centres to meet people living with diabetes and their local healthcare teams.
Heartlands was delighted to host the riders at the halfway point of the challenge and rider Justin Morris put on a presentation and Q&A session during the visit about the team’s inspirational story of how they manage their diabetes while competing at the top of their sport.
