Upcoming health talk discusses brittle asthma

Members of the Heartlands Hospitalpublic are invited to attend a free health seminar at Heartlands Hospital and have their questions answered about brittle asthma.

Dr Adel Mansur, respiratory consultant at Heartlands Hospital, will be tackling issues concerning the management of asthma as well as treatments available to help treat the condition.

Dr Mansur explains: “Asthma is a common long-term condition affecting one in 10 people in the United Kingdom. Caused by inflammation of the airways, asthma sufferers experience coughing, wheezing and breathlessness. A severe set of symptoms can cause an asthma attack where hospital treatment might be needed.

“Using novel treatments, the condition can be effectively controlled to prevent the onset of symptoms and improve quality of life for those patients. I’m looking forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts and opinions about this topic.”

The seminar is taking place on Tuesday 18 November at Heartlands Hospital in the education centre between 5pm -7pm. To book your place or to find out details of the Hospital’s future health seminars, contact Sandra White on 0121 424 1218 or email: sandra.white@heartofengland.nhs.uk

The Trust – which covers Heartlands Hospital, Solihull Hospital and Good Hope Hospital as well as some community based services – runs monthly health seminars to help raise awareness of a range of health conditions, as well as providing information about the treatment and support that is available.
