Young people from across Birmingham and Solihull will meet at this month’s Healthy Self Youth Conference to discuss important issues related to social media and bullying.

Organised by the membership team at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council’s Early Help Team, the conference will take place on 27 November at Park Hall Academy as part of the Children’s Commissioner Takeover Challenge 2015.

The conference forms part of a wider agenda to engage with young people to ensure they are actively involved in the design and delivery of health services for young people.

Activities on the day will range frommarket place stalls, an interactive drama performance from local theatre education company Loudmouth and round table discussions focusing on a range of topics including: sexting and grooming, cyber bullying, interaction with the police as well as autism and vulnerability.

Sandra White, membership and community engagement manager at the Trust, said: “The day will give children a brilliant opportunity to make a difference to their community and put their views across regarding social media and bullying. We hope to recruit young people to work with the Trust’s membership and community engagement team and explore health services for young people.

“Children and young people have so much to offer. They bring ideas, imagination and energy which can really make a difference to organisations.”
