Good Hope Hospital is looking for locals passionate about art and music to help expand its initiatives for patients.
The Hospital’s arts team relies on volunteers to deliver art and music projects to patients on the wards which can help them to recover, have fun and express themselves whilst in hospital. Arts and crafts projects include knitting, painting and drawing; music-wise the Hospital welcomes any musicians who are happy to spare some time playing for patients and visitors.
Another music scheme currently running at Good Hope is ‘Memory Lane’, a reminiscence music project enabling elderly patients to remember and sing along to songs from the 50’s and 60’s.
Georgina Farrow, music co-ordinator at Good Hope said: “Volunteering at our hospital is a very rewarding experience. We have seen volunteers grow in confidence and they have been giving something back to the community. We are looking for caring and passionate people who would like to participate in arts and music projects we run for patients.”
If you would like to volunteer and get involved with arts and music projects at Good Hope Hospital, please contact the arts department at arts.dept.music@heartofengland.nhs.uk or on 0121 424 0113 for more information.
