Why Birmingham? “It’s a great multicultural city with arts, music, theatre, and good restaurants. It has good schools for all ages and lots of leisure opportunities for younger children and teenagers.”
Why this hospital? “I work with a fantastic team of consultant and nursing colleagues in the ED. They are hardworking, caring, supportive and humorous. They are solution finders and problem solvers. They are why I’ve stayed here for my entire consultant career. We are a genuine team. There’s a willingness to learn and evolve. The local patient mix is interesting; I still sometimes see new things after 22 years.”
