Poorly patients at Heartlands Hospital’s Children’s Emergency Department enjoyed a special visit from Father Christmas, who brought some cheer by handing out presents and treats.
It was organised by the Boparan Charitable Trust, who help children and young people who are disadvantaged either by poverty, disability or terminal illness.
At one of the busiest times of the year for the department, a visit from the man himself was very welcome – bringing festive joy to patients, parents and staff.
Maxine Tomlinson, paediatric lead nurse for the Children’s Emergency Department said: “I would just like to thank the Boparan Charitable Trust and Father Christmas for coming along and putting smiles on the children’s little faces. It was lovely to see him.”
The visit comes eight months after the refurbishment of the Children’s Emergency Department and the opening of a new adolescent room, funded by the Boparan Charitable Trust, Jaguar Land Rover PLC and Asda.
Trustee of the Boparan Charitable Trust, Baljinder Boparan, said: “I’m delighted to be able to make this return visit to the Children’s Emergency Department and see the great work that they do, bringing some festive fun with Santa at the same time.”
The Trust also visited Good Hope Children’s Emergency Department and Children’s Harvey Unit to deliver gifts and treats.
