Good Hope Hospital Fete to bring community together again this summer

Full verbal consent givenOrganisers of a popular annual event for the community in Sutton Coldfield have their fingers crossed the sizzling summer weather continues when the Good Hope Hospital Summer Fete 2015 takes place later this month.

The annual community fete, held outside the Treatment Centre on the hospital grounds, is set to be one not to miss this summer with a day packed full of fun activities on Saturday 18 July from 12 noon to 4pm.

Enthusiastic volunteers and local businesses will be offering their support at the event, which includes children’s entertainment, market stalls and live entertainment from Tamworth Community Radio. All proceeds raised during the day will go to the Friends of Good Hope Hospital charitable fund that helps support the patients, visitors and staff at Good Hope.

Staff from the Maternity, Special Care Baby Unit and High Dependency Unit will be present will stalls and fundraising legend Vera Holley and her band of volunteers will be holding tombola and bric-a-brac stalls. There will be loads of fun for the little ones, with donkey rides, face painting, balloon modelling, a bouncy castle and a dance show from Sutton’s Stagecoach theatre school, as well as children’s entertainment from Jo Jingles.

Mums and dads are not going to be left out either with local craft stalls and a collection of vintage cars on display. ‘Foodies’ will find their taste-buds satisfied by the local farmers’ market, with a large selection of street food, fresh fruit, vegetables and homemade treats like sweets and cakes.

Dr Arne Rose, associate medical director at Good Hope, said: “The Good Hope Hospital Summer Fete is a major event in the hospital’s calendar, when we open our doors to the local community and provide a fantastic opportunity for local people to come together, have some fun and raise important funds for the wards and departments of their local hospital.  All are welcome – there really is something for everyone to enjoy.”

To find out more about the current projects and activities of the Heart of England NHS Trust’s dedicated charity, please come and visit their stand at the fete. Also hospital staff will be on offer to provide free health checks.

The fete will be officially opened at 12pm by Andrew Mitchell MP, the Member of Parliament for Royal Sutton Coldfield. Entry is only £1 for adults and 50p for children. Visitors’ car parking is free of charge via the Bedford Road entrance.
