Disability and Accessibility

We are committed to making our hospitals accessible to everybody and strive to improve our services and facilities to make this happen. If you have any suggestions to further improve our Disability and Accessibility service then please let us know on 0121 424 1319

Wheelchairs

Each department has its own wheelchairs. For further information please contact the relevant ward through the main switchboard number on 0121 424 0944

Video Conferencing

Available at Heartlands Education Centre. We can provide access to two high definition video conferencing systems using ISDN connections. They are able to send HD camera, PC, Microscope and Visualiser in-puts. For further information please contact the Heartlands Education centre on 0121 424 3513

Minicom

The minicom service is a telephone typewriter device for communication between people who are deaf, hard of hearing or may have speech-impairments. A Minicom is like a telephone with a small keyboard and screen. Instead of speaking, you type in what you want to say. Then, by inputting a Minicom number, your message is relayed down the telephone line and appears on the screen of the member of staff you are calling. This facility can be accessed by contacting the main telephone exchange on 0121 424 1393

Hearing Loop

A portable loop induction and Minicom system is available in Outpatients and on the wards. This equipment can be accessed out of hours through the relevant ward sister. For further information please contact Riaz Janjua, Equal Access Facilitator on 0121 424 1319
