Professional profile :

Mr Korsgen qualified in Cologne, Germany, in 1988. He received his surgical training rotating through the leading units of the West Midlands including Wolverhampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Good Hope Hospital and Heartlands Hospital, and was appointed at Good Hope Hospital as Consultant Colorectal Surgeon in 1999.

Since 1999 he has developed the Endorectal Ultrasound Service at Good Hope Hospital, to stage benign and malignant lesions of the rectum. He is the lead surgeon performing Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery, training other surgeons in the technique. And the lead clinician for early rectal cancer for the Birmingham Cancer Network.Since 2002 he has developed laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
